Bob Johnson came from football stock. Two of his three brothers also played center for the University of Tennessee. His fourth brother became a surgeon. But Bob bested them all on the field. His 1967 season was unheard of for a center. He was a unanimous First Team All-American, voted best blocker in the SEC, was a National Scholar athlete, and even finished sixth in Heisman voting. To receive that much attention as a blocker is remarkable. He was also chosen as the best center in college football for the years between 1950 and 1975.
