Chip Kell was a different breed of offensive lineman than those who prowled the field in the early fifties. While co-Hall of Famer John Michales was well under six feet and significantly under 200 pounds, Kell was 6’ 1” and 240 pounds. He played all along the offensive interior, and never lost a game at home throughout his entire collegiate career. He spent two years being considered the best blocker in the entire SEC and was a back-to-back First Team All-American.
