Frank preceded Steve Kiner in playing at UT, but his time was less successful for the team, and he had to wait longer to enter the Hall of Fame. As a senior, Emanuel collected 26 tackles in a game against Kentucky where the defense washed over the rival Wildcats. His season-long success led to a consensus First Team All-American award, and the overt dominance he displayed led to him being the first overall pick in the following NFL draft.
