John Michels, College Football Hall of Fame Class of 1996

John Michels was an all-SEC player his last two years as a Volunteer, but also achieved consensus First Team All-American status as an undersized guard for a pair of National Champion teams in 1950 and 1951. Michels was such a great guard for the Neyland Championship teams he was also voted to the All-Time Cotton Bowl team, a bowl series he played in twice, while also playing in the Sugar Bowl and the College All-Star game.
