Peyton Manning, College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017

Anyone who followed football in the early 2000s should know who Peyton Manning is. Manning earned All-American status in 1995, 1996, and 1997, rising from Third Team to Second Team to being a unanimous First Team selection. He also finished sixth, eighth, and second in the Heisman voting those three years. Manning was historically good for the Volunteers, setting a career record for protecting the ball by posting an interception rate of only 1.05. In 1997, he won the Johnny Unitas, Davey O’Brien, Maxwell, and Campbell awards for his outstanding play on offense as the best quarterback in the country. The only thing Manning truly failed to do in college was beat Florida and win a National Championship.
