IT’S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE

 

Coach Heupel returned to a very familiar football field where he played his college career 1996-2000 he was runner up to the Heisman. Oklahoma also fired Heupel in 2014 as their offensive coordinator.

 

The Volunteers had a heavyweight fight Saturday and knocked out the 15th ranked Oklahoma Sooner’s in Norman, Oklahoma 25 to 15.

It’s the first Tennessee Volunteers win over the top 15th ranked opponents since George W. Bush was president in 2006, against 10th ranked Georgia.

 

Both teams started out with the defenses having the upper hand. Oklahoma went for it on 4th down at midfield, the Vols stopped the Sooners. Tennessee got the ball and were 3 and out and the Sooners were 3 and out as well.

 

Oklahoma got their 1st, first down with 6:35 to go in the first Q, as the defense continue to dominate.   Tennessee intercepted the ball with 6:31 to go in the 1st quarter, Bru McCoy lead the way with a 38 yard reception from Nico Iamaleava  that set up a 26 yard field Goal by Gilbert, with 3:45 to go in the 1st Q.

Oklahoma kicked a 37 yard field goal with 2:31 to go in the 1st Q, to tie the Game 3-3.

TN scores on a 66 yard TD reception from Nico to Thorton with 33 seconds to go in the 1st Q. Kick by Gilbert Good.

TN 10 – OU 3.

 

TN fumbles, and Oklahoma recovers at the 5 yard line. The very next play Oklahoma fumbles and TN recovers. TN begins a drive at the 5 yard line of Oklahoma. TN has to punt to push Oklahoma back to the goal line, the Vols defense, tackles QB Hawkins in the End Zone for a Safety with 9:02 to go in the first half.

TN 12- OU 3

 

TN recovers a fumble at the 30 yard line of the Sooners. After a 30 yard drive, TN Sampson punches in for a 1 yard touchdown run. Kick by Gilbert was good.

TN 19- OU 3 with 1:40 to go in the 1st half.

 

TN set up a field goal on a 43 yard pass reception from Nico to Bru McCoy with 6:03 to go in the 3rd Q, Gilbert’s kicked was good.

TN 22-3

 

OU scores on a 2 yard pass reception from Hawkins to Barnes with 8:25 to go in the 4th Q. 2 point conversion was No good.

TN 22- 9

 

TN scores on a 32 yard field goal by Gilbert with 3:36 to go in the 4th Q. TN continue the lead 25-9. Oklahoma scores on a 1 yard run with 1:01 left on the clock.

Final TN 25- Oklahoma 15
